This means that if you want to use a hard disk of more than 2 TB. So you will have to use GPT partition only. Because people don’t work with 2 TB hard disk and they put more hard disk than that. GPT has been introduced due to some such shortcomings in Master Boot Record. It can be said that MBR has been updated to GPT.
